For many years we have decorated graham cracker houses and many of my children look forward to this tradition.
On Tuesday afternoon we invited some moms with younger children to come over and decorate graham cracker houses. We had a great time and it was fun having little ones around for my older ones and me to enjoy. We brought a couple of tables into the dining living area from other parts of the house and covered them with red plastic table cloths. This made the clean up so easy. We assembled the houses that morning and let them dry and then mixed up butter cream frosting to paste their candies on with. Each family brought something to add to the houses. We had a good mixture. Fruit leather, skittles, new flavors of m and m's, marshmallows, chocolate chips, teddy grahams, licorice, gum drops, candy canes, etc. We also made trees with the sugar cones turned upside down and frosted with green.
We also made some non sweet snacks to share. Hannah's egg salad sandwiches were a hit. We had peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, whale crackers, and teddy grahams. It was a warm day so most did not want hot tea to drink and had juice instead. We had a nice time visiting with the moms and children.
