Homeschool Egyptian Style - Mummies
We have been studying Egypt for a while. I read about making a barbie mummy from Just call me Jamin.

For two weeks I have had the priviledge of keeping 3 extra children while their parents took a glorious trip to Italy.
We decided to include them in our Egyptian study. So this week I went to the local Goodwill and bought a few barbies and GI Joes to mummify. If you want to know how to do this read Jamin's blog. It turned out to be a messy but fun project for me and the kids. We used olive oil, spices, vinegar, sea salt, strips of cloth, homemade paste (flour and water). We also made amulets to tie in the layers. We had a ceremony while we waited the 40 days (40 minutes) for our mummies to dry out from the salt before we wrapped them. We didn't squeeze out our strips very well so it took a while for our mummies to dry out. We finally put them in front of a fan and turned them much like a rotissere chicken:) This was a fun project.
