Traveling Across America With 7 Children in a Mini Van
Day 1 on the road. We left our home in Washington on Monday June 16 and traveled to Twin Falls, Idaho. What a beautiful drive along the Columbia River! We stopped for the night and the kids had a great time playing in the pool at the motel. I had a great time too until Esther got a little too adventurous and ventured out a little too far and couldn't keep her head above water. I ended up in the pool fully clothed with shoes, socks, etc. Including my cell phone which no longer works. After I rescued her she wanted to keep playing in the pool for another hour. She never really understood the gravity of the situation even though she was a little scared.
Day 2 on the road. We left Twin Falls Idaho and drove to Limon, Colorado. We saw some incredible sights and a most spectacular sunset! We stopped for the night and crashed!
Day 3 and 4 we drove through Pawhuska, Ok where we had lived and on to Bartlesville,Ok. to see our dear son Isaac. We had not seen him since he got out of the Marines. We had a great time visiting him for two days. We got to know his dog Baby. He inspected my car and got me on the road again in better shape than I arrived. Isaac has a project car (1954 or 1959 maybe) which he spends time working on. It is going to be beautiful when he finishes. The first night we went out to pizza and everyone had to compete to see who could sit by Isaac and who could ride with him. The second night we went with Isaac to eat with some friends we used to spend time with. It was really nice seeing them. Isaac works for them. We also explored Bartlesville and went swimming at Osage Hills State Park where we visited a couple of friends who had grown up! We had a great time catching up!
Day 5 and 6 We drove to Paducah, Kentucky to surprise (shock may be a better word) a young lady on her 15 birthday. We enjoyed a couple of days with our dear friends the MK's. On Saturday we went to Patti's an 1880's settlement. It was very hot for me! We had a good time playing putt-putt golf, see sawing and playing on the playground, seeing the artwork and getting all the children together for a picture. We had a relaxing time visiting. We attended church with them on Sunday. I forgot to mention that on our way to Paducah we had the great experience of driving through a storm and seeing some flooding near Sikeston, Missouri.
Day 7 We attended church with our friends in Ky and drove on to Smyrna, Tn to spend some time with our other adult children, our daughter in laws, our two grand babies, our dear friends D and L. That evening we (D & L, and 15 Reddings) attended the Antioch Church of Christ annual musical. This year was Promise Land and it was really well done! Last year we had the privilege to attend Get on the Boat.
This was the end of our first week! I hope to include some pictures later and more of our trip.

Hey,
We didn't know you were anywhere near Sikeston, Missouri.
Stop by and go to church with us.
Sounds like you are having a great trip.
Take care of yourselves and have a good time.

I miss talking with you but am glad that you posted so that we know where you are and how things are going! See you when you get home!
You know you shouldn't use the word "Crashed" when describing your cross country trip! I had to do a double take and then calm myself. First a near drowning and then I thought you crashed into something!
Missing you and praying for a safe trip home!
I can't wait wait to see you guys! Me and Mom got back yesterday from Idaho. We have so many stores to share! When we see you guys we have to play ultimate frisbee. I played it everyday in Idaho with some people I met from Washington. Have a safe trip. See you later.
